SW 8330 - Contemporary Health Challenges

Description
This course focuses on contemporary health challenges, particularly health disparities among individuals, groups, communities, and society at large. A multidimensional approach is used to examine and critique multiple determinants of health including health care, socioeconomic position, race/ethnicity, physical environment, and health behaviors. Specific attention is given to the question of how social and community-based responses to health challenges affect the well-being of individuals and groups. The role of Social Work in responding to contemporary health challenges and their determinants is examined.
