PHYS 8515 - Dynamical Foundations of Neuroscience

3 Credit Hours
Prerequisites: MATH 4010/6010 or MATH 4275/6275 or PHYS 4180/6180 with grade C or higher.
Description
This course explores the mathematical principles by which brains generate spikes, make decisions, store memories, and control actions. Topics include biophysics and dynamics of single and coupled neurons, bifurcations and transitions between various types of neuronal activities; modeling of synapses, dendrites and axons; small networks; neural coding in single cells and at the population level; dynamics of large networks, including spike computing with population codes; networks learning and behavioral changes.
