PHYS 8560 - Nanoplasmonics

3 Credit Hours
Description
Study of the fundamental properties and applications of the surface plasmonics at the nanoscale. Includes coherent effects associated with phase memory of surface plasmons, control of nanooptical phenomena, nonlinear processes, ultrafast (femtosecond and attosecond) phenomena, and quantum quasiparticles. Applications of nanoplasmonics, including the detection of ultrasmall amounts of chemical and biological compounds, scanning near-field optical microscopes (NSOMs or SNOMs), and nanolithography. Three lecture hours a week.
