KH 9680 - Internship in Adapted Physical Activity (APA)

Description
This course was created to provide structure and professional development for students completing their Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Physical Education Teacher Education with a cognate in Adapted Physical Education within the Department of Kinesiology and Health. This course is designed to provide intensive experiences for students to work with individuals with disabilities in sport, physical education and recreation settings under the supervision of a faculty member. The goal of the course is to give doctoral students an opportunity to continue to develop practical skills working with individuals with disabilities. In so doing students bring real life experiences with them to their college classroom and will continue to be connected to the issues professionals face while working with students with disabilities in sport and educational settings. This understanding will lead to better collaborations between schools, not-for-profit agencies and institutions of higher education and increased advocacy for students with disabilities at all levels.
