PHPH 8721 - Epidemiologic Methods II 3 Credit Hours Prerequisites: PHPH 7711 or PHPH 7525 ; Corequisites: PHPH 7027 or PHPH 9810 . Description The primary aim of this course is applied data analysis for epidemiologic methods using statistical computing software. Students will strengthen and extend their understanding of foundational and intermediate epidemiologic methods using datasets from a variety of epidemiologic study designs, with an emphasis on observational studies. The topics include methodological approaches to specify study variables, generate descriptive statistics, assess bivariable and multivariable associations, regression model techniques for common outcome variable types (e.g., discrete, count, and person-time data), and analytical approaches to handling confounding, bias, and missing data. The course will provide students with a working knowledge of epidemiologic data analysis.
