PHPH 9017 - Epidemiologic & Biostatistical Literacy and Reasoning in Public Health

Prerequisites: PHPH 7017  or equivalent.
Description
This course provides a conceptual overview of statistical methods used in public health research and applied public health practice. Focus will be on developing statistical literacy and statistical reasoning knowledge and skills to enable students to critically evaluate and apply findings from public health research and the research literature. Published public health research articles in peer-reviewed journals will be used to inform each topic covered in class. Statistical ethics will be discussed. The emphasis is on understanding the relevance and use of statistics in public health research and practice.
