PHPH 9970 - DrPH Applied Practice Experience

Prerequisites: Must be officially enrolled as a Doctoral-level Public Health major and have instructor consent.
Description
Regardless of the amount or level of prior experience, all DrPH students engage in one or more applied practice experiences in which students are responsible for demonstrating a depth of public health competence that is meaningful for an organization and advances public health practice. Students in this course have significant advanced-level practical experiences collaborating with practitioners, allowing for opportunities to develop leadership competencies and contribute to the field. These opportunities take place in sites external to the School, and relevant organizations may include governmental, non-governmental, non-profit, industrial, and for-profit settings. University and site supervisors will assess students on their application and demonstration of foundational, concentration, leadership, management, and/or governance competencies. Please note that this course is variable credit, and the instructor reserves the right to require additional coursework for any increase in credit hours.
