EDRD 8400 - Instruction and Specialized Support for Written Language Development

Description
This advanced-level graduate course prepares educators to become skilled teachers and leaders in writing instruction. Participants will explore pedagogical principles for whole class, small group, and individual writing instruction and assessment. The course emphasizes understanding writing development, employing effective teaching strategies to enhance word, sentence, and discourse-level writing skills, and individualizing instruction using psychometrically sound assessment data. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to implement effective writing instruction and support diverse student needs through tailored instructional strategies and assessments, recognizing the critical role of writing proficiency in educational equity.
