Personal selling plays a critical role in the successful implementation of the marketing plan. Sales careers are attractive because of the nature of the personal selling process. Successful salespeople create value for customers by effective problem solving to meet customer needs. Salespeople enjoy significant flexibility and autonomy in their jobs and must develop a broad range of skills to succeed and to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships. Business students can pursue a wide variety of sales positions in both business -to-business and consumer sales. Selling is a dynamic field that is adopting new technologies to better meet customer needs. A sales career is characterized by significant earning potential and timely performance feedback. In short the salesperson plays a significant role in the implementation of the marketing plan and is a critical link between the firm and the customer. Selling is a dynamic career that provides significant job satisfaction, earning potential and opportunities for advancement.
The Benefits of Receiving a Certificate in Professional Sales
The Undergraduate Certificate in Professional Sales is designed to provide you with a solid foundation in the fundamental skills of selling. During the program you will receive knowledge and skill development to help you be successful in actual sales situations. The teaching approach provides hands-on experience in presentations, sales scenarios and collegiate sales contests. The instructors are prominent research faculty in the science and art of selling and are also successful practitioners with real world experience. The faculty and staff of the program also work with the business community to help identify potential job opportunities.

Application Process
- Contact Dr. Bruce Pilling at bpilling@gsu.edu to express your interest in the certificate program
- Meet with Dr Pilling to discuss the program, to assess your fit and to map out your course work
Program Requirements
- Receive approval from Dr. Pilling for your proposed coursework.
- Achieve an average GPA on 3.0 or higher across the four courses making up the certificate
- Complete each course in the certificate with a grade of B- or higher
