Actuarial Science Certificate

The certificate in Actuarial Science is a 12- credit hour fully online program that allows quantitativley oriented students without an actuarial science background to gain foundational knowledge needed to begin an actuarial career. This includes coursework that covers the syllabus of the first two Society of Actuaries Exams ( Probability and FM, Financial Mathematics) that are essential to become a credentialed actuary, with additional elective coursework covering more advanced exams, insurance industry trends (InsurTech), econometrics, and/or coding knowledge relevant to work as an actuary.

 

Admission Requirments

Candidates must have completed two semesters of undergraduate-level diferential and integral calculus (MATH 2211 and MATH 2212, or equivalent) and one semester of statistics (MATH 1401, or equivalent)

Certificate Requirements


The Certificate in Actuarial Science consists of 12 hours of graduate credits. Six hours are required courses, and students can select the remaining six hours from a prescribed list of elective courses. The certificate will be awarded upon completion of the 12 credit hours.
