Digital and Social Media Marketing Certification of Specialization

The Certificate of Specialization in Digital and Social Media Marketing is a 12-credit hour offering that will prepare students for careers in the high-demand areas of Digital and Social Media Marketing, which is increasingly becoming critical for firms across a wide range of industries including government agencies and non-profits. The certificate consists of a carefully developed curriculum that covers all aspects of digital and social media marketing skills required to succeed in a world where firms are increasingly undergoing digital transformation. This includes but is not limited to search engine marketing, mobile marketing, attribution modeling, digital and social media analytics, digital advertising and tactics, and digital and social media marketing strategies related to social media intelligence, engaging with customers, and publishing relevant and valuable content on social media and other digital platforms. The coursework will be accompanied by industry-relevant certifications in online content publishing and management, digital analytics, and social listening.  In addition, the social media intelligence lab will be utilized to offer hands-on experiential learning on how to implement a marketing strategy based on insights gleaned from social media, blogs, and other online platforms. The courses will offer opportunities for students to develop soft skills such as teamwork, communication and presentation skills, and critical thinking.  The certificate can be completed in 2 or 3 semesters depending on the options selected.  The certificate can be taken either stand-alone or students may apply the credits to Robinson’s Master’s in Marketing or MBA programs, and other selected graduate programs.

Certificate Requirements


The Certificate of Specialization in Digital and Social Media Marketing will consist of 12 hours of graduate credits.  Nine hours are required courses, and students can select the remaining hours from a prescribed list of additional courses.
