RN-BSN Degree Completion Program

The RN to BSN degree completion program is designated for licensed Registered Nurses with an associate degree or nursing diploma to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The program is  a three semester, 30 credit hour, online program. For the RN-BSN degree completion program only, the 39 hour Residency Requirement, which is a requirement of all Bachelor degree programs at Georgia State University  is waived. Admission to this program is only once per year in the fall.

 

Admission requirements

 

Acceptance to Georgia State University with nursing as the designated major.

Graduation from an accredited associate degree or diploma nursing education program.

Current registration to practice as a professional registered nurse in Georgia

Evidence of practice - a current resume must be submitted. 

One letter of reference - either professional or academic. It is preferred if the professional reference is from a supervisor.

Grade point average minimum  2.5

Must have finished all of the Georgia State University Core requirements  prior to graduation.

No more than 4 prerequisite or IMPACTS courses (13 credits) may be outstanding at time of admission.

A minimum grade of C or higher is required for all prerequisites

Upon receipt of an acceptance letter from the School of Nursing, the student will be required to establish contact with the School of Nursing records office to complete required forms and health-related requirements prior to entry into the nursing sequence.

 

Program Requirements


The student must provide their current Professional Registered Nurse license number to the School of Nursing records office  no later than the time of registration for the first nursing courses. The license number will be recorded at that time.

Full time students are expected to complete all courses both nursing and prerequisites within two years.

Part time students are expected to complete within three years.

RN-BSN Major Curriculum:

The RN-BSN nursing curriculum is comprised of 10 courses. Five courses are taught through Georgia State University and five courses are taught through eCampus

E-Campus


The University System of Georgia has established five common courses that will be taken through eCampus for RN-BSN students attending participating schools in Georgia. Students will register for these courses through GSU as a GSU student. Grades will be sent to GSU Registrar.
